Responsibilities:
- Performing quality control activities on pressure vessels, mass transfer equipment, combustion equipment, and pressure piping, including development and execution of field inspection plans
- Perform visual and physical checks on final welds and equipment installation
- Comply and ensure compliance with project documents, ASME, CSA Codes, customer specifications.
- Material receiving and inspection
- Review and approve Material Test Reports, Non-Destructive Inspection reports, etc.
- Oversight of third party NDE
- Ensure relevant information has been accurately recorded such as: welding procedures, welder ID, NDE and redlining.
- Interaction with engineering, client, 3rd party authorized inspectors
- Maintain documentation according to established Koch-Glitsch Quality manual and procedures.
- Effective transfer of quality documentation to management
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CWB Level 1 or 2 certification with 2+ years of experience in pressure equipment repair and alteration in field and shutdowns.
- Familiarity, ability to access relevant information and interpret provincial regulations, ASME, CSA, NBIC and API codes
- Familiarity with non-destructive examination, welding methods, flange inspection and assembly
- Good understanding of welding procedures and performance qualification variables.
- Understand engineering drawings – GA, assembly drawings, ISO and P&IDs
- Comfortable working in MS Windows environment and good proficiency with MS Office software
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Health and safety conscious
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with BlueBeam and or similar markup software
- Good planning, organizing and leadership skills
- Welding / pipe fitting trades OR degree / diploma in welding technology
Physical Requirements:
- Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
- Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights.
- Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
- Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing is required.
Work Environment:
The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants, and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the particular project. Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies and procedures, and be performed in compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.
