Your Job
You will provide supervisory and technical support to the assembly engineering team responsible for developing tooling required to bring next-generation cable products to market using a combination of hand-tooling and custom automation.
Our Team
You will work closely with Mass Production, Quality, Product Design, Tooling Design, and Machine Build Teams as well as Automation Suppliers. The division you will be part of is DSS Manufacturing Services, focusing on automation shop activities, design, and project management.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of 3 to 8 engineers and technicians, employing the PBM culture.
- Manage workload based on current and future projects. Prioritizes work and present department timeline.
- Develop both internal and external strategies (quote and leadtime) for tool design and build.
- Drive a concept and design review culture throughout engineering team.
- Provide technical support for the launch of equipment. Responsibilities will include training of technicians and operators to ensure the proper and safe operation and developing re-tooling strategies.
- Explore new technologies and/or define standards as new processes arise.
- Track projects using internal methods for summarizing component cost, labor, and leadtime.
- Understands, supports, and contributes to complete projects according to internal product development procedures, TQM and IS/QS-9000 requirements. Embraces Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- International Travel: Up to 20% per year.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Automation, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3+ years of automation development experience.
- 2+ years of experience supervising technical personnel.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX or a comparable 3D CAD package.
- Expertise in the design and documentation of complex assemblies in CAD.
- Understanding of GD&T and ability to perform tolerance analysis.
- Strong project management skills to set goals and priorities for systematic and timely project completion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results, and make corrections.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work positively with worldwide cultures.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 1+ years of experience in procurement of automation from external suppliers.
- Knowledge of machine building techniques and standards.
- Scheduling and budgeting experience.
- Design experience in the electronics industry.
- Toolmaking knowledge, including manual and CNC machining capabilities.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems design standards.
- Knowledge of machine wiring and industrial electrical logic.
