Subject Matter Expert (Indirect) – Machinery

This state-of-the-art site will produce advanced products, including high-speed connectors, cables, and optical devices.
Job Purpose
The Subject Matter Expert (Indirect) – Machinery plays a critical role in sourcing and developing automation lines, tooling, testing equipment, and OEM machines for New Product Introduction (NPI) in Molex Vietnam. This position supports Molex’s business growth in optical and cable products, drives supplier localization, and ensures strong supplier performance and cost competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Selection & Approval
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and approval of new suppliers that meet Molex performance and compliance standards, with a strong preference for local suppliers in Vietnam.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Operations throughout supplier onboarding.
- Leverage existing supply base or identify new suppliers to support NPI programs.
- Support the execution of Global / Regional contracts and develop decision-making frameworks for Make vs. Buy and supplier selection.
2. Pricing & Cost Management
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Category Managers, Sourcing, and Logistics teams to develop target costs and identify lower-cost alternatives.
- Conduct regular price benchmarking, should-costing, and competitive analysis to drive cost optimization.
- Lead RFQ processes and negotiate commercial terms covering price, delivery, quality, and service.
- Justify sourcing and contract decisions to internal stakeholders using data-driven analysis.
3. Supply Base Development & Management
- Build and maintain long-term, high-performing supplier relationships.
- Regularly assess supplier risks and lead mitigation actions to ensure supply continuity and business resilience.
- Implement contracts, quality agreements, and supply agreements to protect Molex interests.
- Monitor supplier performance in areas such as technology roadmap, lead time reduction, cost improvement, inventory management, and supply assurance.
- Collaborate with global sourcing teams to implement common supply strategies (Incoterms, logistics modes, VMI, CRP, etc.).
4. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with Molex procurement policies, legal and regulatory requirements, including safety, environmental, tax, customs, ethical standards, and spend guidelines.
5. Best Practices & Knowledge Sharing
- Promote and implement best practices in supply chain and procurement management.
- Share supplier insights, market intelligence, and best practices with Procurement teams across divisions and regions.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required)
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in procurement, sales, or engineering within a high-tech manufacturing environment
- 3–5 years of experience related to the optical fiber industry
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading teams or cross-functional projects
Certifications (Preferred)
- CPM / CPSM, CPIM, CIRM or equivalent
Skills & Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of Office 365, Coupa, and other procurement-related IT systems
- Business-level proficiency in Vietnamese and English
- Solid understanding of optical fiber technology and market trends
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications for automation lines, tooling, testing equipment, and OEM machines
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Chinese language skills are a plus
