Your Job
Concept, design and debug manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic tooling for assembly tooling for manufacture and inspection of Molex products. Provide support to meet Molex's internal and customer application needs.
What You Will Do
- Develop and support molding and over molding solutions for NPI (New Product Introduction) for CSBU cable products, utilizing a Scientific molding thought process throughout.
- Estimates project costs and lead times for new molds, product extensions and revisions to existing molds.
- Works with Product Engineering and supports MIE/DPE’s to review and adapt product design for manufacturability. Attends FMEA meetings and provides input as to process failures. Facilitates mold design review meetings with design engineer, and plant personnel.
- Manage the design process, build and debug of injection molds / mold components / equipment on time and within budget.
- Assist in development and growth of cable molding strategy and improvements for CS products.
- Identify and drive technology and process improvements to further grow cable molding capabilities.
- Assist and support production line molding related trouble shoot as needed, consistent with ability to perform primary duties.
- Evaluate PCN/ECN from molding view, or raise PCN/ECN.
- Shooting the production molding problems which technician can’t solve.
- Support QA and DPE/MIE/ME to do analysis about the quality complaints from the customers.
- Support EHS to identify the tooling hazard source and improve it.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- College degree or above, major in mechanical engineering, molding & tooling design experience.
- 8 years engineering experience with mold design.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP.
- Familiar with tooling design software (such as Pro-E/UG/Auto cad/mold flow simulation).
- Knowledge of mechanism (design & analysis), mechanical cam driven, electrical servo driven, etc. Ability to estimate costs of components designed.
- Tolerance analysis experience.
- Knowledge of problem-solving and strong logic & critical thinking ability.
